Enlightening Session on the Indian Knowledge System at Jagran College

Jagran College of Arts, Science, and Commerce had the privilege of hosting an enlightening session on the Indian Knowledge System, delivered by esteemed IIT Professor Dr. Arnab Bhattacharya on 2nd Aug 2024. This insightful event coincided with the birth anniversary of the legendary scientist Acharya P.C. Ray, adding a deeper significance to the occasion.

The session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Varsha Srivastava, setting the tone for an intellectually stimulating discussion. Dr. J.N. Gupta, CEO of Jagran Education Foundation, presented a sapling to Dr. Bhattacharya as a symbol of growth and sustainability. Additionally, Dr. Asmita Dubey, Principal of Jagran College, honored him with a special memento.

Dr. Bhattacharya captivated the audience with a deep exploration of India’s rich intellectual traditions, covering:

  • वेद&वेदांग – The essence of ancient scriptures
  • व्याकरण&निरुक्त – The origins and evolution of words
  • छंद, स्मृति, &दर्शन – Diverse philosophical perspectives, including the six ways of understanding the universe and debates on the existence of God
  • वेदांत – Insights into the core of spiritual texts
  • Phonetics (Shiksha) – One of the six Vedangas, highlighting the science of sound and pronunciation in Sanskrit

The session was well-received by students and faculty alike, fostering a deeper appreciation of India’s intellectual and philosophical heritage.
