Other Backward classes (OBC) cell-

The Jagran College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Kanpur is committed to providing an environment that promotes diversity and respects everyone regardless of caste, creed, religious belief, or culture. While maintaining diversity of all kinds, it is also committed to ensuring the protection of everyone including the members/students of OBC, and acting as per the provisions of the constitution of India in such matters.

Establishment of the cell

OBC cell was set up on 18.08.2021 to ensure proper implementation of directives, policies, and various schemes of GOI, Ministry of Education, UGC, and other Ministries concerning the welfare of the community.

The main objectives of the cell

• To educate, enlighten, and strengthen the students, staff, and faculty members of OBC.
• To implement, monitor, and evaluate continuously the reservation policy in the college and plan measures for ensuring effective implementation of the policy programs of the GOI, MOE & UGC.

Functions of the cell

• To maintain and update a database of staff/ faculty/ student belonging to the OBC community in the college.
• To circulate the GOs and various schemes regarding the OBC community.
• To monitor the implementation of State Government Scholarship for OBC students in the college.
• To extend support to Government agencies on behalf of college students for getting Scholarships/fee reimbursement/ other financial support benefits for the OBC students
• The OBC cell will exclusively look after the work related to the OBC community.
